While unable to replicate the ‘double gold’ success of last year in which EFI won both the Innovation and Energy Supplier categories, EFI was still commended by the judges for their innovative landfill gas project in Nelson.
As a finalist in the Renewable Energy category, the judges had this to say: “An innovative business approach to linking available renewable resources with end users to create a financial win-win for Nelson City Council and the District Health Board as well.”
The EECA Energywise awards are the premier celebration of achievement and innovation in New Zealand’s energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors. The awards:
- Showcase the best energy management practices in the private and public sectors,
- Highlight smart businesses and innovative thinkers who are putting energy efficiency and sustainable energy principals to work everyday,
- Encourage and promote the wise and sustainable use of energy.
The awards are now in their 9th year. A record 156 entries were received and 27 finalists were selected for the nine major categories.
All the successful finalists have saved money and resources by factoring efficiency or renewable energy principles into what they do.
